The Mechanics of Prayer

Here is my description about how to pray from Lobsang Rampa's book, 'The Rampa Story'. Please also refer to the original text here - https://goo.gl/3Pb2dY

Some Pre-Notes:
1. You should not use this for personal gain unless it really helps others as well. And you must sincerely believe that it will help others. (This is very important)

2. Some people defer good deeds to the future, such as - If I get rich, I will help others. Usually we forget and with the purpose lost, the achievements loses its effect. So a formula that can be used is win-win-win ... others should win, you should win, and overall, the planet or creation should benefit from the change you are trying to bring about.

Why does Prayer work for some and not for others:
Few understand why prayers work for some and seemingly not for others. As there are many misunderstandings about it, its essence is often lost in the realm of mysticism and superstition. But if we use it to help others, it is one of the greatest forces on this Earth.

How do Prayers work?
1. When you pray, you pray to yourself, to your other self, to your greater self.

2. All of us have a Guardian Angel or higher-self that looks after us. But the higher-self is none other than our own self, which is on the other side of life.

3. The higher-self does not have a material body such as we have on Earth. It appears to be ghostly; sometimes seen as a blue scintillating figure larger than life-size and connected to the flesh body by what is known as the Silver Chord.

4. Though it does not have a normal human being's body, we can visualize it to things which the Earth body can do, with the addition that it can also do very many more things such as travel to any part of the world in a flash.

5. The Silver Chord which connects our physical selves (at the navel area) to our higher-selves pulses and glistens with life and is used to convey messages from one to another. So when we pray, we send a message up the silver chord to our higher self.

The Process:
Step 1: Formulate the prayer clearly.
1. The words you use should be completely clear, eliminating any possibility of misunderstanding.
2. The language should be simple. And the request should be stated positively and never negatively.
for example: A college principal who wants to motivate the students may say:
"I want my college's students to have high self-esteem."
      and not,
"They should not feel bad about life."

Step 2: Repeat it thrice:
1. Repeat the prayer 3 times, saying exactly the same thing all 3 times.
2. And you imagine sending send those prayers through the Silver Chord to our Higher self.

Step 3: Visualize your higher self performing all the actions:
1. You visualize your Higher-self going upto a student and asking him or her questions about how their confidence can be boosted. Your higher self follows the route which you would take and be in teh same place such as a College Canteen or Lecture Hall.
2. You visualize your higher self, actually understanding the needs of many students talking to them one at a time.
3. You then visualize that your higher self is coming up with ways and structures that would help the students become motivated.

Step 4: Repeat
1. Repeat that as many times as are necessary, and if you really believe, then there will be an improvement.
2. For example, you could pray in groups of 3 prayers, 3 times a day.
